What is a Memory Screening?

A memory screening is a technique that can help you figure out if you’re at risk for memory or other cognitive problems as you get older. The screening takes less than an hour and takes place in a private setting with only you and the screener present. The memory screening includes a series of queries and/or some tasks that are intended to assess your memory, reasoning ability, language skills, and other intellectual abilities.

Following the test, the screening administrator discusses the results with you and advises on whether you should pursue further testing and whether you are eligible for a clinical trial. The findings of your memory screening are private, however if you request it, we will provide a copy to your practitioner.

Memory screenings are provided free of charge at The Cerd Center.

Why Get a Memory Screening?

Screening for memory or other cognitive impairment should be part of your yearly health regimen if you are 50 or older for several reasons, including:

  • Determining whether additional clinical assessment is required

  • Allowing you and your doctor to take an active role in your brain’s health

  • You’ve taken the first step toward learning more about brain health and memory

Memory Loss Clinical Trials and Experimental Treatments

Your memory test provides you with the information you need to take control of your brain health, alter or make new lifestyle choices that may affect your memory, and determine if you qualify for a clinical trial.

Clinical trials are investigatory study in which experimental medications are put to the test. Participating in a clinical trial can aid in the discovery of new medications and the search for a cure for Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases.

One of the best ways to find out if you are eligible for a clinical trial at The Cerd Center is to participate in a free memory assessment. We can tell you if you qualify for a trial after we conduct a full evaluation and analysis of your no-cost memory screening. There is a need for further screening procedures. Don’t delay, contact The Cerd Center to see if you are eligible for a free memory screening.
